Your November watch list: ‘Black Doves,’ ‘The Good Daughter’ and ‘Dig’

A returning spy thriller, a Karin Slaughter adaptation and a new Amy Poehler comedy anchor a strong month for grown-up TV.

November’s TV calendar is crowded with dragons and replicants, but three shows stand out for an adult evening on the couch.

“Black Doves” returns for Season 2 on Netflix on Nov. 5. The London-set thriller about a network of spies for hire brings back Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, and adds Neve Campbell and Sam Riley, according to Metacritic’s November preview. Also back on Netflix the same day: Season 2 of “North of North,” the comedy set in an Arctic town in Nunavut that follows a young Inuk mother rebuilding her life.

“The Good Daughter” arrives on Peacock on Nov. 12. The six-episode limited series, adapted from Karin Slaughter’s 2017 novel, stars Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne as sisters forced to confront a buried tragedy when a similar attack hits their town, with Brendan Gleeson. Slaughter’s readers know her for unflinching crime stories, so expect intensity.

“Dig” lands on Peacock on Nov. 23. The comedy from Amy Poehler and Michael Schur, the team behind “Parks and Recreation,” is adapted from Kate Myers’s bestselling novel “Excavations” and follows archaeologists at a dig site in Greece. Poehler stars with Hugh Laurie and Geraldine Viswanathan.

Slaughter’s readers know her for unflinching crime stories, so expect intensity.

Critics’ reviews for most of these titles were not yet widely published as of Nov. 4, so check back before you commit a full weekend.

How to watch: “Black Doves” and “North of North” stream on Netflix starting Nov. 5. “The Good Daughter” streams on Peacock Nov. 12, six episodes. “Dig” streams on Peacock Nov. 23. Best fits: “Black Doves” for a solo binge, “The Good Daughter” for a book club that read the novel, and “Dig” for a group watch with friends who need a laugh.
